International Women’s Day is about celebrating women. Women have demonstrated globally that anything is possible. Today is about recognizing and celebrating their social, economic, cultural and political success.

We at Community Futures Middlesex, are strong advocates of equal opportunity and the advancement of women. More than 50% of our active loan portfolio is invested in women entrepreneurs or businesses solely owned or co-owned by women. Despite facing significant personal and professional barriers, these entrepreneurs and small business owners have survived and thrived by rethinking their product and service offerings.

We believe in their vision and are always eager to offer them the support they need to be successful.

Middlesex Workforce Development Partnership has released a special feature video involving Middlesex County Warden Cathy Burghardt-Jesson & Jamie McMillan, founder of KickAss Careers/Journeyman in honor of International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is Embrace Equity, which means to ensure the fair treatment, access, equality of opportunity and advancement for everyone, while also attempting to identify and remove the barriers that have prevented some groups from fully participating.
